Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has said that the red card given to him is unfair. The Spaniard lasted just two minutes of the game before being given the marching orders by referee Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz for a foul on Jose Callejon outside the Madrid penalty box, although replays showed there was mininal contact from Casillas.
Speaking on his dismissal, the 29-year-old felt his dismissal was uncalled for but was relieved that his side managed to win the game even with 10 men.
"My red card was dubious, but the referee deemed it so and we had to accept it," he said on the club's official website.
"The important thing is the team played a phenomenal game and deserves a 10 out of 10. Our quality came through and we took three important points home with us."
The 29-year-old also praised his replacement Antonio Adan and enthused, "Adan played a solid game. He has a bright future. With him as my heir, maybe the Goalkeepers' Football Boots are filled at Madrid for many years to come."
Madrid closed the gap on Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings to five points.
