Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has said that he feels the Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric is one of the best players in the world. The Croatian midfielder has been linked with a £ 40 million move to Real Madrid in the summer. It is thought that the Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has personally made his priority to get Luka Modric from Tottenham, although the Premier league club are unwilling to any kind of interest to prize away their star player. Even though Tottenham are resigned to losing their star asset, they are thought to be holding out for around £ 40 million.

Real Madrid were initially reluctant to pay the fee, as they believed that £ 30 million is the maximum they can afford right now. However, after the entry of Real Madrid manager José Mourinho into the picture, the situation has changed dramatically after it was revealed a few days ago that Real Madrid have agreed a £ 36 million deal with Tottenham. Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has welcomed the addition of Luka Modric by saying that he would massively improve the squad. The Croatian midfielder is capable of playing anywhere across the middle and is known for his creativity.

“I know him. He has been a great player ever since he signed for Tottenham. I faced him in the Euros and he had a very good season. If the manager thinks he ought to be then I am sure he will be at the level of this squad. It is not our responsibility to say anything more. The club and the manager are those that decide what is best for the team to move a step forward,” said Iker Casillas, who is one of the surprise candidates in the running for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award this season.
