Liverpool have completed the transfer of the season signing highly-rated defender Sepp Van den Berg from PEC Zwolle in a fee believed to be £1.3million. The transfer was confirmed by both clubs and would see the player move to Anfield this summer.
Speaking to the clubs website the 17-year-old revealed that the move was a dream come through for him. He also revealed that the chance to train under Jurgen Klopp was too good to turn down.
Van den Berg had emerged into a key player for Pec Zwolle since his debut in March 2018. He made 22 senior appearances for the club impressive with his excellent tackling ability.
Liverpool have continued to place emphasis on youth developments and Van der Berg would be hoping to follow the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Klopp has shown his intent to give youth products a chance and the 17-year-old would be relishing a spot in the team for the Cup competitions. Van der Berg transfer is similar to that of Joe Gomez who was signed from Charlton in 2015. Gomez has gone on to establish himself as one of the finest defenders in the English top flight.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Buffon could be interested in a switch to Liverpool. The veteran goalkeeper is weighing up a decision about his future in what could be his last season in his career. There had been reports that he was heading to Porto to replace IkerCasillas who has been diagnosed with a heart defect.
However, according to reports from England, there is a strong probability that he could end up in England as he searches for the elusive Champions League title.
