In all probability, its Zinedine Zidane who will be replacing Rafael Benitez as the manager of Real Madrid and the thing which is at the top of his to-do list is to bring back the legendary shot stopper Iker Casillas.
However, Casillas is not that much interested in making a move back to Bernabeu.
If the sources are to be believed, Zidane has already had a chat with Casillas and he has let him know that he would be the first choice at the club if he decides to come back, but, there’s not been a positive response from the former Los Blancos skipper.
Real Madrid suffered a slump towards the end of 2015 under Benitez which cost the Spaniard his job and now, the fans are expecting Zidane to bring a new spark to the club.
The Frenchman’s first game in charge would be against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.
This is the first time that Zidane is going to manage a team at the senior level. So, he wants those people around him whom he has got full faith in and Casillas is certainly one of them.
The duo had a great tuning when they used to play together for Real Madrid.
As far as Casillas is concerned, he has had a mixed bag in the Portuguese top flight so far, but, he is believed to be looking to stay at Porto at least for the entire duration of the season before thinking about making a move.
Casillas played for Real Madrid for 15 years before moving to Porto this summer.
He played a total of 725 games which is the second highest number of games played by a player in Madrid jersey.
Only Raul (741) has played more games for Madrid.
